My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Lulu, a 6 year old, 7lb Shih tzu.  She is a tiny, sweet young lady in search of a quiet home where she can learn the joys of being a loved family member.  Lulu was a puppy mill mama before she came into foster care, and as such this is her first time in a home environment where her needs are being met.  Despite what she has been through, this special girl trusts her foster mom, sitting in her lap and falling asleep, enjoying all the love and cuddles that are offered to her.  Lulu will run and hide at noises and sudden movement, having had no experience with common household sounds, but given the trust she has been able to establish with her foster mom, it is believed that Lulu will one day love life with her adoptive family.  She currently lives with another dog, whom she mostly ignores.  Lulu enjoys car rides, and although apprehensive at the vets, showed no aggression during her examination.  She has a spay and dental surgery booked. She is currently eating Science Diet small bites kibble soaked in warm water and mixed with wet food, and gets soft chew treats which she quite enjoys!

Lulu is working hard on her housetraining, and although she doesn’t ask to go out, accidents can be avoided if she is given plenty of bathroom breaks throughout the day.  Her foster mom stays with her in the yard at all times, and because of her fears, leash walking will require lots of time and patience.  Being a flight risk Lulu, requires a fenced backyard to prevent her from bolting.

This adorable lady needs to find that special quiet home, preferably with a mature couple and no children, where she is given love, patience and understanding.  She has so much potential and has already come a long way with her foster mom. Once you earn her trust, get ready for a velcro snuggle bug, eager to enjoy serene moments tucked up in a cozy lap.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

Our process begins with an online pre adoption questionnaire followed by a telephone interview
Once both have been completed we consider suitability and if we feel the adoption candidate is a potential match we arrange a meet and greet with the dog you are interested in
From there we schedule a home visit and check personal and veterinary references.

Go meet their pets

All our dogs are in foster homes so meet and greets are by appointment only

Foster Homes
Sadly, each new day brings a flood of emails and telephone pleas to help yet another abandoned dear dog. We try and help these displaced dogs through our rescue efforts and networking. We are always in search of new foster homes where a dog can be cared for and loved until a permanent home is found. Speaking of Dogs Rescue covers food, medical attention and all the supplies required for the dogs in foster care. Foster parents need be responsible and patient people who will provide a safe environment for our dogs. A foster contract must be signed. This is a serious responsibility; however the experience is very rewarding. If you can open your heart and home to a foster dog please contact us. We have a comprehensive Foster Manual available for people who are considering becoming a foster parent.
