My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption Area: East Tennessee

Auggie needs:
-Professional grooming as needed
-Active adult home or children at least 12 years old
-Someone home part of the day to continue housetraining
-Another playful furbuddy to hang out with
-Fenced yard
-No apartment living – I bark at times when I hear people or dogs
My name is Auggie. I am a very handsome young pup. I’m a 9½-month-old, 11-pound Male Havanese mix. My fur is a beautiful soft and fluffy cream color. I did not have the best start on life, but now that SBRET took me in I have learned what my life is supposed to be like. I’m a little shy when I meet someone new but with a treat in hand that will change pretty quickly. I’m very food-driven, a very fast eater and always looking for more so I use a puzzle bowl to help slow me down. I eat separately from the other dogs so there isn’t a problem since they like food also. Other than food/treats, chew toys and tug O’ war toys are my favorite. I’m a pretty quick learner if there are treats involved. I probably didn’t have much human contact in my life. When I first came to my foster home I would lie as flat as a pancake if anyone picked me up. Once I know you a little, I’m a loveable little man. Now I follow my foster mom waiting for her to hold me. I love to snuggle on your lap while you’re reading or watching TV. I’m very well mannered and do not jump on people or the furniture and wait to be invited to be with you.

I’m learning to walk on my leash/harness but will need a secure fenced yard in my new home. Once I get to know you, I can start working on leash walking again. Make sure I am secured if any doors are open that do not go into a fenced yard since I was not well socialized before coming to rescue. I am a happy boy and I do get the zoomies in the fenced yard and it’s so much fun to explore the yard with you watching me. Before SBRET I had never been taken outside to potty – I have made the potty/grass connection. I need someone home part of the day with time and patience to continue my potty skills. When I roam the house my foster mom puts a male wrap (belly band that will come with me) just in case I don’t get outside in time. I sleep all night quietly in my wire crate until I hear the other dogs wake up.

At night my foster mom covers my crate so I feel safe. During the day if my foster mom needs to leave the house for a couple hours I nap quietly in my crate (not covered) until she returns. If she takes me with her I ride quietly crated in the car. I don’t know if I would like cats – I probably don’t even know what they are. I do bark at people and other dogs so an apartment wouldn’t work well for the neighbors.

I’m neutered, microchipped, and up to date on my vaccines and flea/heartworm preventions. My adoption fee is $175. If you have an active home for a handsome Auggie Doggie like me, contact SBRET.COM and get your application approved so we can meet up real soon.
