My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, my name is Maggie, and I am 7-year-old Siberian Husky. I'm quite the beauty with my all-white fur and striking ice-blue eyes! Im a nice medium size at 43lbs. My fur is all white with just a hint of tan. When I first came into my foster home I went to the doggie beauty salon, aka Groomer. My pretty coat didn't get a good brush out in a long time. I was so patient when the Groomer brushed me. She said I was the best Husky she ever had. Well of course I was! I'm the best at everything! Plus, she made me really pretty! My Owner brought me to a local shelter when they couldn't take care of me anymore. One day a Treasured Animal Rescue Volunteer was walking through all the dog kennels and stopped at my kennel. She asked the AC worker about me. I left that day because my Rescuer said no pretty dog needs to behind bars. She needs to be in a home. So even though I'm in a foster home that's ok because I'm waiting for my new family to come meet me. Now, I'm in a foster home I have dogs & cats as my friends, and I do well with them. I am interested in the cats and like to sniff them, but I never chase them. My doggie friends and I play. I'm a good role model for the younger dogs. I like to play with puppies and I can keep up with the younger pups. Yes, even at 7 years old! Im pretty good on a leash. When I go on a walk, I dont pull. If youre looking for a walking buddy, I would LOVE to take walks with you! I know some basic commands and I really enjoy the company of humans. I just want to be with my humans and get lots of petting. I like to watch TV with my foster Mom. I let her choose the channels. Doesn't matter with me what show just as long as she rubs my belly! I get really comfy on the couch and I don't sit very ladylike but hey, gals got to get comfy! I am very good with kids. I've been around kids and I like when they pet me. I love when anyone pets me. I act silly. I roll over on my back for belly rubs. I take treats very well from everyone. I SIT like a good girl and wait for my yummy treat. Sometimes, I'm picky on my treats. My foster home has a fenced yard, and some areas are 4' and 6'. I don't try to jump over the fence. Why would I even try to jump a fence when I have it so good here? But there's notes in my intake paperwork that my original owner had me on a tie out and I did escape. Can you image a Husky escaping a yard? Maybe my next home will have a fenced yard. I'm a quiet girl. The only time I make any noise is when I have to alert you, I have to go do my business. First, I will do little circles around the door or in front of you and if that doesn't catch your attention then I will do a little woo woo. That's my signal "I gotta go!". This Lady is a true Lady! More on my little circles. My foster Mom calls them my ballerina dances. When I get happy (which is a lot) I do my little circle dances. It looks like I'm doing pirouettes - like a Ballerina. But I don't have any ballerina slippers. That would be silly. But maybe with all my pirouettes I can find a spot in the Joffrey Ballet Theater. That would be funny! Once a week I go to doggie daycare so I can meet new friends. They first put me in the oldie section. How dare they!! 7 is the new young. The doggie care place realized I've got some spunk so I played with the young in's all day. I even got a new boyfriend. He's a Husky just like me but just a different color. If you're looking for a middle-aged Lady who is well past her crazy puppy stage and yet has great energy and LOTs of love to give, then look no further! Ready to pick me?!? If so, please complete an adoption application and our journey begins. Love,Maggie Maggieis located in our foster home in Aurora. **Note on fleas** Those sneaky little critters can hitch a free ride into your home aboard another pet, person, or even rodent, so it is important to make sure your new pet is protected. Depending on the time frame your adoptable pet has been in our foster care it might have had just 1 dose – which is not enough. Please consult with your Vet on putting your new adoptable pet on yearly flea/tick prevention – even if they are an indoor pet.

Adoption fees:

Puppies/Dogs - $400
Seniors - $275

**Some dog breeds require additional vetting which leads to an adoption fee to not adhere to the pricing guideline above. There are many circumstances where an adoptable pet has an adoption fee that varies from above schedule due to their vetting needs while in our foster care.

Cats & Kittens - $150

**Treasured Animal Rescue highly recommends adopting kittens in pairs, to avoid any potential behavioral issues like biting, scratching and not using the litter box. Also, adopting 2 kittens lessens stress on the tiny kitten which provides a healthier transition. **

Go meet their pets

All our Treasured Gems are located in our foster homes. The location is noted in their individual profiles. We do not have a facility or shelter for meetings. Treasured Animal Rescue is not able to adopt out of the State of Illinois. Puppy/kitten adoptions must be close to our current Vet Clinics due to their spay/neutering. A Volunteer can advise of our Vet Clinic locations.

In each of our foster pets profiles it will state if they are good with dogs, cats or children. Please note what we experience in our foster home may differ completely in a potential Adopters homes. A TAR foster parent can give much insight on their foster pet as they live in their home just like their own pets.
