My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Spotlight on Clawdia: The Silky Black Beauty Looking for a Safe Haven
Meet Clawdia, a stunning all-black cat with a silky coat that’s as soft as her heart. Found as a stray by a compassionate Good Samaritan, Clawdia has shown just how resilient and loving she can be, despite the challenges she’s faced.

At first, Clawdia was a bit shy, but it didn’t take long for her to warm up to our staff. Once she felt comfortable, her sweet and gentle nature truly shined through. This lovely lady is a testament to the idea that, with patience and kindness, every cat has the potential to reveal their true, affectionate self.

Clawdia is not only known for her elegant appearance and soft, luxurious fur but also for her loving personality. She’s a cat who thrives on affection and is eager to find a home where she can feel secure and cherished.

However, Clawdia does have a special requirement: she is Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) positive. This means she will need to find a home where she can be the only cat or live with other FeLV-positive kitties. While this may seem like a hurdle, Clawdia’s loving nature and gentle demeanor make her an extraordinary companion, deserving of a caring and understanding home.

If you’re looking for a sweet, silky cat who dreams of a safe and loving environment, Clawdia is the perfect match. She’s ready to fill your home with her warmth and affection, and all she needs is a chance to show just how wonderful life can be when shared with a caring family. Open your heart and home to Clawdia, and you’ll find a loyal friend who will bring immeasurable joy to your life.

More about this shelter

Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.

What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.

Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.

Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.

Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.

Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
