My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daffodil aka “Daffnee”, may start out as a wallflower but warms into a charming goofball once she’s comfortable! She delights in squeaky toys, bully sticks and being outside napping, rolling around, or playing chase. With a little trust-equity, she asks for pets, cuddles and especially belly rubs. She’s especially attached to her foster mom and likes to snuggle in the morning. She already LOVES Santa Fe’s trails!! She’s a really quick learner and aims to please.

This sweet girl is in search of a foster or forever home where she can receive the love, kindness, and patience she needs to overcome the trauma of living in a hoarding situation combined with flash flood evacuation from Las Vegas, NM.

Although Daffodil tries to be friends with her foster sibling, Joy, she`s not very welcomed. She would thrive in a home with another social pup who can show her the ropes and help her build confidence in her new surroundings. Or she could do well in a family that can focus their love on her alone.

Daffodil’s adoption fee is waived. She is spayed and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations. A licensing/microchip fee may apply.

Daffodil is lucky to be resting in a foster home. Email: newhope@sfhumanesociety.org if you are interested in meeting her.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

If you have made the careful decision to bring a companion animal into your life, chances are that SFAS&HS has a dog, cat, kitten, puppy, ferret, rabbit, guinea pig, or other fuzzy critter that will match your home and lifestyle.

Matchmaking is an important part of our adoption process, and we pride ourselves on helping hopeful animal lovers find a companion that will fit their lifestyle. Think about how much time you have to spend with a new animal. Think about the time involved: a healthy puppy can live for 15 to 20 years! Remember that settling in a new four-legged family member can take some time and adjustment. Bear in mind that just like us, your companion animal will need food and supplies and have to visit a doctor from time to time.

We invite you to visit our animals in the shelter, at our satellite adoption facility inside PetsMart (3561 Zafarano Drive) or online.Once you have an idea what you’re looking for, one of our adoption counselors will visit with you and share some ideas about which of our residents would be best suited to you.

All animals are spayed or neutered before leaving and receive the required age-appropriate vaccines. The required licenses for city and county residents are available at the shelter as you adopt!

Adoption is a partnership between the adopter, the shelter and the animal. We are committed to making that partnership work for everyone.

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter & Humane Society is the largest animal shelter and care facility in northern New Mexico. More than 6,000 lost, stray, abandoned or injured animals come through our doors each year. As a private, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we receive nearly all of our funding through private donors in our community and beyond. SFAS&HS contracts with the city and county of Santa Fe to care for homeless and stray animals, as well as those brought through our front doors.

We work to reunite people with their lost animal companions, and re-home those animals that have gone unclaimed into new homes through our adoption program. Low- and no-cost spay/neuter programs address the overpopulation problems that our community faces. Humane education programs in our local schools teach children to respect and care for all living creatures. Partnered with our community, we work for change in the lives of our companion animals and to end the suffering of all animals.
