My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Aksana is looking to wrestle her way into your heart! This gentle giant weighs in at 105 lbs, but we're convinced that 100 lbs of that is just her heart!! This sweet mastiff mix was found as a stray and now looking for her forever home. She's had good dog meets in our care.

She's available for adoption at ACCT Philly- you can meet him any day from 10am-6pm.

Behavior:
Per Staff 7/3/24: Aksana was sitting near the door when I approached. She leaned in for a sniff and then avoided eye contact, turning her head away. When I opened the door she looked up with neutral eyes, but back away scared when I reached in with the leash. She did some leash dodging but allowed me to over the head leash her, and came right out once secured.
Hyper vigilant, cowered and ran when dogs were barking at her. When we got tot he room I could see that Aksana was trembling, so I gave her some space and crouched down. She came up and leaned against me hard, continuing to tremble. I gave her some comforting pets but she tensed up a bit, so I stopped. She then pawed me, and let me hold her paw for a little. Aksana sniffed around the room for a few seconds, and then came back to lean against my legs as I typed. She seems people oriented, but just terrified at this time. I offered her some treats but she didn't take any. WIth some time Aksana began to relax slightly, and becoming more neutral than tense. She was still trembling, but less so. I crouched down and gave her some pets, which he allowed without any issue this time. She allowed all handling without issue, you just have to give her time to trust. At one point Aksana sat right on my feet and leaned back against my legs! Overall, she's very shy and nervous at first, but with some time and gentle reassurance, she comes out of her shell!
Got so jumpy and goofy during play! She will launch at you from across the room and doesn't realize how big she is! She never mouthed though! Interest in squeakies and almost chased a tennis ball!
