My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When life gets you down, St. Anthony has a way of making things exciting! This guy is still young and gets excited about all the small things in life, and it doesn't take much to activate that little brain of his.

He's an active dude who would love a home that can help channel his excitement into fun activities like walks, runs, games, or more!

He's still working on some basic manners, so for the time being we think he would do best in a home without kids. He has the potential with training to be around them in the future.

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Scott County (HSSC) has been an advocate for the humane care of all animals in Scott County, Iowa, since 1902.

An average of 500 pets arrive at the HSSC each month. About 80% come to us as strays and the rest are surrendered by owners who can no longer keep or care for their pets.

The HSSC is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization funded entirely by donations, adoption fees and a fee charged to the city and county for the care of the animals.
