I am the sweetest boy you could ever hope to meet! Everyone who meets me says I am very well behaved for such a young puppy. My foster parents are pretty sure I am an Australian Cattle Dog mix.
I am very smart and responsive to training! So far I have been learning how to Sit, Come, and play fetch. Potty training has also been going very well. The longest I have been left home alone in my kennel was five hours and I did not have an accident ! My foster mom wakes me up once each night to go outside just to make sure I don't have an accident in my kennel.
I am doing well sleeping in my kennel during the nights. I do not make a fuss if I am put to bed when I am sleepy, I just fall right back to sleep. However when I have gone to bed earlier a time or two I have cried for a bit. When I am left in my kennel when my foster parents are milling around the house I sometimes cry for a while because I want to be out with them, but am content when given a kong or puzzle treat to occupy me.
I love my foster fur-siblings. I like to play with the two dogs, but am respectful at giving them their space when they let me know they need a break. I like to lick the cat's face, but she doesn't seem too interested in me. I love it when the neighborhood kids come over for playdates, playing tug is my favorite. I also love my squeaky toys and chewy bones.
My foster parents have been taking me out on tons of adventures and so far I like all the dogs and people I have met. If my forever family continued to socialize me to new places, people, and animals I think I would be a great patio dog.
I am looking for a forever family to share lots of adventures and love with!
From his foster: Blue is a very intelligent puppy who enjoys training. His ideal family would continue to teach him new tricks and manners. As a herding breed Blue will thrive with lots of interaction and stimulation. I do not think there is anything he could not learn with a dedicated family helping him grow.
Like all puppies Blue's primary way of exploring the world is through his mouth. He will accidentally get a finger or hand in his mouth when tugging, or nibble on your hand if it is near his face when playing. We have been redirecting him with a toy when this happens to show him this is what he should chew on. It would be best if his new home had children old enough to understand they should keep their hands away from his mouth as he continues to grow out of his mouthing phase. Blue also needs to be watched when outside just to make sure he does not eat anything he should not be eating.
Blue's foster mom works from home and he has been doing wonderfully on a daily structure. We spend 15-20 min outside to potty and play, then he will play independently in his playpen for another 20 minutes or so before napping for an hour. Ideally Blue's forever family would understand that he will thrive when given structure and lots of interaction and stimulation. Puppies Blue's age should not be expected to go more than a couple hours without a potty break without having an accident. Thus he is not yet to the age where he can be left alone in a kennel 8+ hours a day without an accident. However he is progressing on potty training remarkably fast with the current structure of being let out every couple hours.

More about this rescue
The Bond Between is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that focuses on the bond between humans and animals. We were founded in 2009 as Secondhand Hounds. Since then, we have rescued over 29,000 dogs and cats with the help of thousands of fosters, volunteers, and supporters in our community. Our organization has grown from a rescue to a first-in-its-class animal wellbeing organization... now The Bond Between! We continue to provide safe shelter, proper veterinary care, and daily necessities for animals while working hard to help them build a bond with humans. We also focus on supporting the bonds that already exist between people and pets with our pet food shelf, respite foster care program, and focus on social services.
We wake up every morning saying YES to connecting people and animals, caring for them, and helping them fill each other’s hearts.
You can help support us today by donating, fostering, volunteering, or sharing The Bond Between.
