Drake is an energetic and loving dog who thrives in the company of teenagers and adults. She has a vibrant personality and always greets everyone with excitement, often jumping up and giving enthusiastic kisses. Drake loves toys and is crate trained, making her a great companion for a lively household. Her playful nature shines through during dog playdates, though she does have a tendency to resource guard food from other dogs, so feeding separately is essential. Despite her spirited demeanor, Drake is not a fan of fireworks and will need some comfort during such events.
Living in a home with older kids suits Drake best due to her high energy levels. She has lived harmoniously with another dog and enjoys socializing, but her food guarding behavior from other dogs means she'll need careful management during mealtimes. Drake knows basic commands like "sit" and loves to engage in activities that keep her stimulated. Her affectionate nature and joyful spirit make her a wonderful addition to a family that can match her energy and provide a loving environment.

More about this shelter
The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.
To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.
There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.
We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
