Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Please read the bio in full for answers to your questions. In the event you have a question that is not covered in the bio, please email info@seniordoghaven.org. If interested in adopting, please complete an adoption application which can be found at https://seniordoghaven.org/adoption-process/.
Please note that because all our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up
meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file. Adoptions must be within a reasonable distance from Wilmington, DE for our volunteers to be able to conduct an in-person home visit.
Meet Hammy! Hammy is a 10-year-old, 41 lb., mixed breed pup who was rescued from a shelter. She looked so sad in her cage, and there was no way Senior Dog Rescue could leave her behind.
Hammy was brought into her foster home and it was quickly noticed that she walked with a limp. Our vet diagnosed her with arthritis, and she now takes a twice daily anti-inflammatory to help with pain. The cost of this is $50 a month. Hammy’s ideal home will have minimal stairs and preferably carpet, as hardwood floors can be challenging for her. Our vet also noticed that Hammy had a low-grade mast cell tumor. Fortunately, they were able to remove it all and Hammy is now cancer free. It’s unlikely to spread to anywhere else in her body, but the site of the tumor will need to be monitored to make sure it doesn’t reoccur. She also received a dental. Hammy is fully potty trained and has good vision and hearing. She gets along great with dogs, cats, and kids of all ages. Due to her arthritis though, a home where children understand how to be gentle would be best.
Hammy is a super sweet couch potato who loves snuggling in piles of pillows next to her people. She walks well on a leash and loves taking short walks. Hammy has the cutest mini zoomies and loves getting petted. She really enjoys head kisses, pup cones, and couch cuddles. If you need a best friend to relax with, Hammy is your girl. Please apply today!
