My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hercules is fostered in Gurnee, IL

This handsome red-head is ready for his forever home.  Hercules is a  3 year old, fun-loving, red tri mini Austrailian Shepherd that weighs about 30 lbs.  He has a 5-star personality and loves people, dogs, walks, and especially cuddles.

Hercules was originally purchased from a pet store.  He came to us from an environment where he was living mainly inside with other dogs, cats, and bunnies, all of which were doing their outdoor business inside the home.  In his current foster home, he is living with other cats and dogs of all sizes and does great with them all.

With his dog companions, he loves to play and is willing to share his food or toys.  With his human companions, he loves affection, playing with toys, learning new things, and is always willing to cuddle up on the couch. He enjoys being pampered and genuinely seems to enjoy being bathed and groomed.  Hercules is a bit afraid of thunder, but calms down if able to cuddle up to his person.  He is happy to crawl in the bed and provide heat, if he's allowed.

Hercules is a lot of fun to take on walks.  He responds well to direction.  Hercules is a great companion and will do best in a comfortable home with another dog to keep him company and adopters that provide plenty of love and affection.  Hercules is crate trained and house trained.

Hercules is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms. He does require a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.

NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org

Additional adoption info

Meeting any dog within MASR requires an approved adoption application on file. We process as quickly as possible via volunteers. Then connect an applicant one at a time with a dog and foster home to arrange a meet and greet. If all parties at the meet and greet, including the dog, are in agreement that it is a good fit, the dog goes home that day.
