My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Esmerelda!
Esmerelda story is a sad one. She came to the shelter as a stray in June. Sadly, this isn't the first time she has been at at shelter. Her microchip showed were she had been adopted from a shelter in Delaware. CCHS's many attempts to locate the adopters listed on the microchip have been futile. It seems as poor Esmerelda wasn't wanted anymore and was left to fend for herself in the world.
Now we are trying to find her a new home! This petite girl is as sweet as they come! She loves to walk and is a great jogging companion. She would prefer to be your one and only pup in the house but seems fine with children and cats..

More about this shelter

In 1987, an initial attempt was made to organize a local humane society in Caroline County. While this attempt did not succeed, those same dedicated volunteers were not deterred.

From our humble beginnings 30 years ago, to where we are today, we are proud to be called “the little shelter that could”.

We provide service to our community through pet adoption, Rabies Clinics, Trap-Neuter-Return, Pet Pantry, Pet Lost & Found, Re-homing, Intake Diversion, Cremation
