Shadow and Roxy A908545 are likes peas and carrots, they arrived as best sisters from the same home. They have lived well and loved well and have been friendly with everyone they have met. They have been good house mates, they are house trained and have stayed alone free roaming inside the home when their people were gone. They love an opportunity to sleep in comfort with their people if they are allowed.

Loosing a lifelong home is hard so they will appreciate finding a new home very soon. In the meantime they are making the best of their kenneled situation. They are spayed and heart worm negative and ready to leave right away.

They are advocated for by their friends and fans including ClassicCaninesATX who are helping to make land bridges home for displaced mature pets stuck in the shelter.

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Go meet their pets

The Austin Animal Center is open for adoptions every day from 11:00am to 7:00pm. We're closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day and Thanksgiving Day to give our staff some time with family.
Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.
