Hi there! My name is Brittany! Though I am in foster care right now, I am looking for a new foster or a furever home to help me branch out away from my mom and siblings. (send an email to info@smallbreedrescue.org if you are interested in fostering me)
I’m a happy-go-lucky, carefree, and cheerful companion who is tough on the outside but a teddy bear on the inside. What thrills me most in life is sharing my love with those around me, whether you’re big, small, old, or young. I’m an equal-opportunity companion! Affection is my middle name, and I can’t think of anything better than getting love and attention from my family. I’m outgoing and friendly, and you’ll often find me lying in your cozy lap, content and happy.
My favorite toys are squeaky ones and those that help me with my teething. I love every treat I’ve tried and enjoy playing chase and getting cuddles. My foster family is helping me learn manners or what we call Petiquette and how to be calm. Sometimes I have trouble controlling my excitement and impulses, but I’m learning.
I like to take my time approaching new situations. While I’m a bit shy with new faces and places, I warm up as I become more familiar with my environment. I know sit, stay, come, off, down, wait, and walk on a leash with a harness. I am crate-trained and, although I whine at first, I settle down pretty quickly. I’m learning to be potty trained and do well when I am reminded to go outside. I still need some help with my manners and would do well with some additional positive reinforcement training.
Exercise keeps me happy and content. Without it, I can get a little worked up. I do best when I have had a chance to get my energy out so that I can be calm later. Going for walks, engaging in play, and doing outdoor activities with my new family daily would make me very happy!
I was found living under a shed on a very large, secluded property with my siblings and mom and boy have I come a long way! If you think we may be a good match or would like to get to know me better, please click the Adoption Application button below my bio on the rescue website, here is the link - https://www.smallbreedrescue.org/Home/AnimalDetails/12526
Please note - Due to home introductions that are part of the adoption process, we can only accept applications for interested parties who are in or near North County San Diego County, California, at this time.

Small Breed Rescue of Southern California is an all-volunteer, non-profit, foster based organization funded by donations. We are dedicated to rescuing small breed dogs, small reptiles and select exotic pets primarily from public shelters and other rescues. Being committed to keeping administrative expenses low, virtually every dollar received goes directly to the care of the animals.
Our rescue is uniquely structured to rehabilitate animals who are at high risk of euthanasia due to manageable behavioral challenges, such as dogs who are declining in a shelter environment or reptiles / exotics that have not been properly handled over their lifetime. We develop relationships to accommodate these specific assistance needs, which is what differentiates us from other rescue organizations.
We have assembled a foster team that consists of experienced individuals who bring particular skills from the animal welfare industry. This enables us to grow, educate and enrich our foster community in a manner that supports our specific needs and those of our animals.
Our group remains interested in and committed to the welfare of the animals beyond the adoption process by providing education, training tips, resource references, and an open door policy to our adopters.
