My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A Volunteer who recently took out Larry said that he is “a true athlete and would love a partner who likes to run and has an active lifestyle!” Larry loves adventure and adapts well to many different things - long walks, play time, fetch, or puzzles/enrichment inside!

Larry enjoys the company of other pups. If you are looking to add to your pack, consider Larry and we can set up a doggy meet and greet with your resident dog to ensure compatibility on everyone`s end!

One year old pups like Larry offer the opportunity to still shape and mold their behaviors, and instill positive habits and training. At one year old, he has a longer attention span than a baby pup, and shows that off with his patience and adaptability! At just 1, you will get to witness the exciting milestones of his growth, like learning tricks and commands, exploring new places and creating a strong bond together.

Looking for an athletic boy who just wants to adventure around with his owner? Come in today and adopt or foster Larry!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

Interested adopters should come to the shelter during business hours to meet with a counselor start looking for a pet who'll be a good fit. Our counselors and volunteers are happy to help with that process.

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
