Life did not start off well for Cribbs. He came to rescue with a severely fractured Left front leg leg that was never going to heal and causing constant pain. A decision was made to amputate the leg to allow him to grow without pain. After the surgery, he was then taken to his fosters' home. Now spends his days playing hard with other dogs and getting lots of cuddles from cats and children. He is still working on the crate training, and learning not to use the potty in it. At first very timid and unsociable, he has been getting better when it comes to trusting humans and getting in and out of crate. He used to be terrified of being leashed in the kennel but has much improved. He is ready for a forever home that will continue to take the time to work with him and keep this little handsome tripod active and happy!!
Cribbs got to be fostered by a kind family during Tropical Storm Debby. Here's what they had to say:
Hey Everyone - were fostering Cribbs. Hes such a sweet and shy boy. Hes a tripod who loves belly rubs and ear scratches. Hes nervous, but not aggressive in the slightest. Loud noises that arent expected or the sound of a man walking makes him scurry to his crate or bed.
He seems to know lay down, treat and he comes when I call him - but he wont do it for my boys or husband. Hes perfect in his crate (no barking, no accidents, no problems going in). Hes not 100% housebroken (but some of that could have been from being inside with all the rain). He had zero anxiety through the storm and 6 tornado sirens yesterday. When in my fenced backyard, hes perfect. He finds a safe spot to go to when hes nervous, but then plays and explores. No barking, no digging.
Friendly with kids that can be patient with him. My 8 year old boys love to dote on him. Can be pulled out of his shell to play with my 16 lb mini schnauzer and they will lay and cuddle each other. Hed blossom in a home with a furry friend to play with and with a dog mom who has time to work with him.
While we have him, were working on him getting accustomed to men and if the rain lets up we want to try to get him to walk on a leash.
