My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Looking for a wonderful family dog, an unending source of laughter and affection? That’s Maverick, and he’s ready for his forever family! He is dog friendly, cat tolerant and kid friendly, the perfect fit for just about any animal lovers home! Maverick absolutely adores kids- he would love to be the “my first rescue dog” that your kids talk about for the rest of their lives.

Meet Maverick, and hear from his foster mom here: https://youtu.be/1t-cKgJBUd4?si=JLAt8R2VnZ4JRKEX

Maverick is a 1 year old, 57-lb German Shepherd/Catahoula Leopard Dog mix (we think- it's always a guess with rescue!) Maverick adores treats and will sweetly army crawl into your lap just to be close to you. He’s a hugger who loves leaning his head on your shoulder and gives the best kisses—especially when they come with belly rubs!

Maverick has impeccable manners, patiently waiting his turn for treats and toys, and he’s always respectful of boundaries. He gets along great with other dogs, takes correction well, and would be a fantastic companion for families with kids thanks to his gentle and playful nature. Maverick has spent time with kids as young as 3 years old, watch him interact with kids for yourself in his video. Maverick loves to carry around squeaky toys and his favorite antler chew, so a yard to play in would be perfect for him.

This smart boy is mastering commands like “kennel,” “sit,” “stay,” and “roll over,” and he’s making great progress with his leash skills. Plus, he’s a dream in the car! No roaming, barking or whining from him, Maverick just sits still and patiently waits for his destination.

Maverick is looking for a family that will shower him with love, treats, and belly rubs. He’s eager to continue building his confidence and doggy skills, and he’d thrive in a home where he can get plenty of affection and playtime. Maverick enjoys splashing in puddles and a little doggy spa day in the mud. A doggy sibling would be a bonus, and he is cat tolerant and could live with dog savvy kitties.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will keep you entertained and loved, Maverick is your guy. Apply today below and prepare to fall head over paws in love! We are willing to test this dog with anything you need us to in order to ensure he’s the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know.

We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews:
https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success.

Our rescue has a 2-acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs, and we enjoy seeing their progress!

Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond.

Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.

The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded.

It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS:

Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family
Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test

Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!

Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non- profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!

Follow our rescue journey and connect with us on our website and social media platforms. Together, we can make a difference, one adoption at a time.
