My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

ANISHA is part of the Dreamer Litter who came south with her 4 litter mates from the Northern Manitoba community of McKenzie Island. She’s had her first set of puppy vaccines, a microchip, a dose of dewormer and been deemed a healthy girl by her vet. She did also come into rescue with her mum and her name is DREAM and she strongly resembles a White Husky/Gt Pyrenees. We have no information on dad though but he could well be a Shepherd. This beautiful girl is the bossy one in the litter and appears to have a strong Shepherd personality. She has a very soft side to her as well as she loves to snuggle with you and to be told what a good little girl she is.

ANISHA is crate trained and sleeps soundly in it all night and she’ll also go in there of her own accord during the day to take a nap. She’s only just started to go on walks and getting used to being on a leash and like all puppies, she’ll jump around on it and try to pull ahead of you. Housetraining is still very much a work in progress and she’s only just learning to use the bathroom outside and she does still use newspaper in the house. This energetic little girl loves to play and chase her toys around and she really likes to chew on the rubbery ones and Nyla bones due to her teething. She has several dogs in her foster home and she enjoys playing with them. She would do well with a cat in the home seeing as she’s just puppy and it would help if the cat is dog savvy. We do also recommend a slow, monitored introduction between them. We do require children to be age 6 and up and she needs a fenced yard to keep her safe when she’s outside playing.
ANISHA is looking for an energetic family who can give her lots of walks and long hikes to help her burn off some of that puppy energy. She travels really well in a vehicle so will always be up for an adventure or two. She would love to have a fur sibling but she would do well as an only pet too provided her adopters don’t leave her alone for most of the day. She is learning her manners and will “sit” for her meals and take treats “gentle.” We are looking for an adopter for her who has Shepherd experience and is a strong leader.
Puppies are fun and cute but also require a lot of work, patience and dedication to training. We need her adopter to be in agreement to sign her up for obedience/puppy training in order to adopt her. Her spay is included in the adoption fee and will be performed at the Barrie SPCA and must be performed by the time she’s 6 months of age and we need her adopter to also be in agreement with this as per our Rescue requirement. The adopter can opt to get it done at their own vets office and we’ll reimburse what we would’ve paid at the SPCA but the timeframe must remain the same in order for us to do so.

If ANISHA sounds like the girl for you then please complete the adoption application to meet her.

Additional adoption info

Dogs: $750 (as of March 2024)
Cats: $250
The adoption process involves a brief application for the pet you are interested in. We will review your application and if you appear to be a good match for the pet, we will contact you for a phone interview. If that is successful we then do a vet reference check. If all goes well we will then set up a meet and greet for you and anyone else living in the home including any resident dogs with the pet. We then ask you to go home and contemplate your decision on adopting the pet and let us know your decision within 24hrs of meeting the pet. If applicable we will then move forward with the adoption at a mutually agreed upon time.

Go meet their pets

We only set up meet and greets with our animals once an adoption application has been submitted. We do occasionally have meet and greets with our animals at Global Pet Foods in the Barrie area.

You can check out the available pets on our rescuegroups website or on our rescue Facebook page.

More about this rescue

We’re a small rescue with a big mission to save animals in our Northern communities, local Pounds and owner surrenders (under certain circumstances.) We’re located in Barrie, Ontario and we serve the area of Simcoe County and within a two hour radius of the Barrie area.
Our intakes are placed in loving foster homes until they’re assessed, vetted including vaccines, microchip and a spay/neuter (if over 6 months of age) before they leave the rescue to be adopted. Female puppies are spayed at 6 months of age and males 8 months of age.)
We’re always looking for additional foster homes as we can only do intakes if we have foster homes for them to go into.
