Meet our sweet, playful girl, CASHEW!

Cashew is a young, beautiful German Shepherd mix with an engaging personality and THE BEST EARS around!

Cashew LOVES people and enjoys time out with volunteers. She's affectionate and likes being close. Cashew leans her whole body into you, drops her head in your lap, then reaches right down to your soul with her warm, expressive eyes.

Cashew is intelligent and energetic. Knows her ‘sit’ and ‘down’ commands, is treat-motivated and learns quickly. She’s a perfect walking/hiking pal and would do great in a home that can provide her with daily exercise. Will benefit from additional training to sharpen her leash skills.

Cashew is a resident at the local animal shelter and shelter life has been hard on her. At intake she lived in a crate 24/7. She’s since been moved to a kennel but it’s in a location that gets little foot traffic. Combine that with being a black dog and our sweet girl gets overlooked again and again.

Cashew is really special! She will make a wonderful, loyal, lifelong companion and would love a home to call her own!

A 10 day home trial begins in order to ensure the adopter and pet are a good match.

Thank you for your interest in one of our rescue dogs or cats.

Please be advised that filling out the application does NOT guarantee an adoption. We do NOT sell our dogs nor cats. We adopt them. The adoption donation/fee is tax deductible. Your donation is used 100% for the welfare and vet care of the animals while they are with us.

Adoption donation for dogs: $300; $350 for puppies. Adoption donation for cats: $125, $125 for kittens.

More about this rescue

Whiskers & Tails Foundation was founded on February 1, 2005 by Lynne Amano, a vegetarian. Our primary mission is to rescue dogs, cats, to assist needy pet owners, to educate the general public on the humane treatment, and care of all animals.

Our goal is to prevent animal cruelty, and make their lives better while with us. We continue to form relationships with local animal shelters, rescue groups, individuals, volunteers, city, county organizations and supporters. We also donate to other organizations to assist them with their mission objectives.

One of our programs assists senior citizens with their companion animals by finding temporary pet housing, while the owner is hospitalized, in recovery, or permanent homes in cases of the owner's terminal illness, or death.

Whiskers & Tails Foundation believes in spay and neuter of all animals, especially feral cats. We rescue barnyard animals, and educate public on backyard wildlife.

Whiskers & Tails Foundation is a registered 501 (C) (3) Non Profit Organization, Tax ID #02-0737421. We are based out of the sunny Southern California, in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes. Our funding comes entirely from donations, our adoption fees and fund raisers. We do not receive any City, County or Government funding. Your tax deductible donation is used 100% for the welfare, and veterinary care of the animals while they are with us.
