My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zhoe!

15-year-old Zhoe lost her mom, and none of her family wanted to keep her, so they surrendered her to Carlsbad Shelter. She looked so scared looking through those bars, a big change from the quiet familiar house where she used to live.

A shelter volunteer reached out to advocate for Zhoe's rescue, and we were able to scoop her up on July 1st. She is super sweet and a perfect mid-size 32 lbs.

Zhoe is sweet, friendly, and acts much younger than her years. She walks nicely on leash and is alway eager to head out on the trails around our property.

Zhoe went on a two-week Frosted Fling, so we could learn what she is like in a home setting. She earned RAVE reviews from her Fling Mom:

"Zhoe is seriously the perfect dog. She is so sweet and takes treats so gently. She feels a lot younger than her age and loves going on long walks and is super curious about the world. She loves to meet other dogs and isn't at all aggressive. She has been super friendly to everyone I have introduced her to, including children.

I think my favorite thing about Zhoe is her cuddles. She will lay next to you and cuddle you like a person; it's so sweet! Zhoe loves to play and be chased around, and she LOVES chicken and tuna. She does well when she is left alone, but she definitely likes to be close to people. She followed me everywhere which I loved, and she was so happy to see me when I got home from work every day.

Zhoe is also super healthy! I've fostered several dogs now, and they have all been on medication, and Zhoe isn't taking any meds at all! She is well house-trained and won't pee indoors as long as she has access to an outdoor space or is taken out a few times a day.

Zhoe also has a great sense of humor! She really makes me laugh, and it feels like she does it intentionally! She is an absolute dream and I really miss her already although I've only been without her for a day."

Looking to add love and joy to your life? Consider adopting Zhoe!

You are welcome to drop by to meet Zhoe between 10:00 and 3:00 any day of the week. Just be prepared to fall in love!
