My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Tundra. I’m a handsome young man with icy blue eyes and squishy tomcat cheeks. Don’t confuse me with the coldest biome on earth! I’m a gentle giant with a sunny disposition, sure to melt any glacier!

When I came to my foster mom a few months ago, I was terribly neglected. I was badly matted along my legs, under my arms, and on my tail and rear. Feces and urine caked my backside. Underneath my snow-white fur was a layer of brown, oily residue. I had a case of stud tail.

My spirit was broken even more. I shut down emotionally. I spent the first few weeks sleeping the day away in a bin. I was terrified of having a presence. I tip-toed around my room. I was quiet like a mouse. I wanted to take up as little space as possible so you wouldn’t think I was a burden, or worse, not want me.

More than anything, I wanted to be wanted. I strongly feared doing something wrong and rejection. The first time another cat hissed at me, I hid behind the sink. I stayed there for 12 hours, not moving or making a sound. I didn’t want to be seen, heard, or disliked.

My foster mom doesn’t know my history, but suspects I endured heartbreak. With time and lots of love, I’ve learned that I am safe and won’t get left behind.

I’ve come a very long way from my bin cat days! I’ve discovered my voice! Now, I’m chatty and vocal! If you look at me, I meow-meow-yawn!

I’ve found my confidence! I’m a cheery guy. I roll over to show you my belly. I love to explore! I walk around and say “hi” to all of the cats, even if they’re less welcoming.

I’m extremely playful! I love all toys-  furry mice, feathery wands, you name it! I will hunt, pounce, and whack, whack, whack! I have so much fun! Even during play, I’m not rough! I’m very considerate!

I have excellent bathroom habits for such a big boy; there is minimal tracking. I eat cleanly. I keep tidy too!

Better yet, I’m a dream to work with. I’m passive and not reactive at all! I’m easy to bathe and medicate. My foster mom has never heard me hiss or growl! Remember the cat that was mean to me? I love him even when he’s grumpy. I want to play with him all of the time!

Due to the matting, we shaved my rear and tail. If you think I’m beautiful now, wait until you see my fur at its fullest! I’ll have the fluffiest tail and the cutest tufts of fur between my toes.

I’m a soft white teddy bear and the biggest sweetheart. I want to be a good boy forever so that you’ll love me forever. Will my forever be with you?
