Take the Pet Home
This helps Loved At Last Dog Rescue with pet care costs.
Hello, everyone! I'm a vibrant 2-ish year old corgi mix and my name is Beene, affectionately known as Benny Boy by humans. I arrived in Canada in December 2023. I have been fortunate to live with caring foster families since my arrival. As a special-needs dog requiring diapers/belly bands for indoors, I need a special kind of person/family able to commit to my long-term care. I'm a lively pup with lots of energy, love to give, and excitement for what is to come!
I was born in a small village in the Middle East and when I was one month old, a human found me whimpering under a tree all alone. The whereabouts of my mother and littermates were unkown, so they kindly brought me to a shelter where I stayed for 1.5 years with other dogs in a small room and yard. Even though the conditions weren't the greatest at the crowded shelter, it provided me the opportunity to connect with people who sponsored my trip to B.C.
Benny is happily living in a foster home here in BC with numerous other dogs. He loves playing with other dogs and would be extremely adaptable in a home with another playful dog(s) or have the opportunity to go to dog parks. Benny enjoys romps with fellow canines, and adores people even more. He's a sweetheart who lives for human affection and will gently place his paw on your leg or arm to let you know it is time to pet him, or for him to melt your heart with his soulful eyes.
Benny has a minor incontinence problem which has been undiagnosed, but is suspected to be neurologically related. He has given handlers direction for his need to release his bowels by going close to doors, however, his bladder control isn't as easy for him to recognize and has been controlled with belly bands while indoors.
Benny is a very friendly and sociable dog, although he can be a bit timid when meeting new humans, particularly men. With patience and care it won't take him long before seeking their affection. In fact Benny's current foster is a man and it took all of five minutes for them to bond. Eager to please, and very food motivated, training Benny is a breeze. Being a very gentle soul who doesn't have any resource guarding, he's also great with kids! Sometimes Benny's joy for life gives him the "zoomies" and he races around happily in large circles.
Leaving Benny home alone for a few hours is no problem: no separation anxiety. A home with a fenced yard is ideal for him to run, explore, and eliminate without the diaper/belly band.
Neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adoption fee is by donation.

The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess. Loved at Last Dog Rescue is not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.
Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.

As adopters of overseas dogs will be taking their dog home from the airport, they have a couple of weeks to decide if the dog is a fit.
