Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Social, Observant, Polydactyl
Guppy's personality is as unique as her extra toe beans! And she puts those extra beans to good use immediately - Guppy could open her own bakery with how hard her biscuit making skills go! She is not quite a lapcat, and prefers not to be picked up, but she eagerly sits next to her humans and makes happy biscuits in their lap the whole time she can cozy up nearby.
Playtime is not a huge priority for Guppy. She's too busy keeping her biscuit-filled bakery running to have time off for toys! Truly, not many typical cat toys have caught Guppy's eye, but a tunnel to run through, or some squeaky toys and scratch pads are plenty for her! She is super interested in real life as it happens around her, and would enjoy a comfortable windowsill with a good view that she can observe the outside world from. If there are silly birds or squirrels to watch, even better!
Guppy is quite the social gal! She is affectionate in her own way, and loves to initiate interaction with her humans on her terms. Mostly, she will set the physical boundaries of how close or far she will sit - but the second she settles down, those biscuits will be made rapidly! The best way to approach Guppy is with a calm and slow introduction. She will clearly set her own boundaries of whether or not she is in the mood. She'll indicate with a sweet head nuzzle if she is ready for pets, or back off if she decides now is not the time! Guppy would benefit from a human who is happy to let her set the pace for their cuddle and pet sessions, and someone who is willing and able to recognize her cues.
Guppy's social behavior applies to respectful kids and other cats also! She has done well in foster previously with children ages 8 and up who are aware of typical cat boundaries and are able to calmly interact with her! She also immediately, eagerly interacted with the resident cats in her foster home. Guppy would fit into a multi-cat household no problem, especially if the other cats are outgoing and friendly like Guppy is with other felines!
Give this sweet lady a chance and watch her blossom into the loving, independent feline she can be! Contact APA! today to adopt Guppy into your family!
All APA! cats are fully vetted, spayed or neutered, and have updated vaccines and a microchip. Lifetime support is offered by our Cat Behavior Team.
