*** Olive is at The Cat Cafe adoption center in downtown San Diego. ***
Black/orange tortoiseshell, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 6/8/23, #19201
Other cats: good solo, okay after intro Dogs: unknown Children: 5+ cat-savvy kids
Olive was found by a resident in a military housing area where it soon became apparent that a family had moved away and left her. She was very friendly, very skinny, and always very hungry. Additionally, some neighborhood children were starting to bully Olive by chasing her with scissors to cut her fur and whiskers. The woman feeding Olive contacted her sister who is a Rescue House volunteer and we stepped in to get Olive into a safe and loving foster home.
Olive is a perfect angel! After arriving in foster care, she quickly turned into the happiest, friendliest, and snuggliest kitty in the world. Olive adores being petted and having her head, neck, and back scratched. She'll make happy paw air-biscuits, and when she really gets into the snuggles and scritches her tongue sticks out a little bit in the cutest blep! She loves cozy blankets and can often be found blissfully kneading them, too. Being a young kitty, Olive is very playful and thoroughly enjoys catnip and wand toys. Yet she is also very calm: if you aren't in the mood to play, that's okay! Snuggling up with you for a nap is just fine, and she'll sprawl across your chest and belly if you're leaning back far enough. If she doesn't have a person to nap with, the next best thing is the cubby on her tall cat tree. Olive does well with meeting new people and accepting their affection, and though it's not her favorite thing to be carried, she will allow you to hold her if she's cradled like a baby getting head scritches the entire time.
Olive has met some resident cats in her foster home and is a little wary during introductions but seems to be okay. We don't know her thoughts on dogs. She did well with an 11-year-old visitor and we think she could be fine with cat-savvy kids over five who don't try to bully her and who understand she's not being mean if she puts her teeth on them when petting or playing with her. She has never bitten or broken skin... it's a happy-love nibble.
Olive is such a sweetheart and she is ready to be your closest cuddly companion. Will you welcome her into your heart and home?
