My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
This pet was brought in by their previous owner on June 28, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Ben, a cautious but affectionate young male dog looking for his perfect home. Ben takes some time to warm up to new people but is a loyal companion once he does. He got along well with the dog in his last home, though he can be reactive to unfamiliar dogs. Ben experiences some separation anxiety and would thrive with a doggie sibling for company or an adopter who works from home and can include him in their daily activities. Still young, Ben is maturing and settling down, ready to grow into a wonderful addition to a loving family.

At SDHS:
This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered. This pet is now ready for their new home!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
