My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Willard was born around July 1, 2022 and might top out in the 55-60 pound range when done filling out.  Willard was found in a nearby town and when no one came looking for him the local dog control officer reached out to us for help.  Willard is just stunning with his long, lustrous, fur and soulful eyes.   Willard is a bit shy at first but warms up quickly.  Willard rides nicely in the car and walks ok on a leash.  Willard was introduced to children around 8 years old and was fine with them but we are going to say no tiny, noisy, kids because of his initial shyness. In the short amount of time we have known him he has shown us he is a VERY smart boy!  He found the dog door quickly and we feel he is doing well going potty outside.  We've also found that he is a water dog true to our guess for breeds and it doesn't matter if it's a pool or a pond - he's all in!  The dog control officer said he was nicely clean during his kennel time, but did pee a couple times when he was gone over 10 hours.  So there could be just a bit of work at first for this subject.  Willard is HAPPY!!!  And he's a busy guy that is adoring all the play and running with the other young dogs here.   This is all we know so far and we will be learning as we go and so will you!   Update:   Our financial situation has improved and a surgical consult resulted in the diagnosis that Willard likely suffered being hit by a car in his youth (as growth plates are involved) and his injury was not medically addressed and his hip joint is very out of place and not correctable.  However in recent years dogs have been undergoing FHO surgery (femoral head removal) for dysplasia and other debilitating hip joint problems with remarkable success!  Willard will be visiting Perry Pet Vet for his life altering surgery mid January and after a few months of appropriate care (and we are hoping for the help of Sand Dancers aquatic therapy if we can find funding) rehab he will be pain free and it is likely he will be running around with barely any signs that anything was ever wrong with his leg!  We are so very happy for Willard!!
