Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This cuter than cute, 2 year old (a guess), black tri male aussie (North American Shepherd?) is Tank. He came to ARM because he was running loose and was live trapped. We did track down a former owner who had rehomed him to a farm and didn't want him back.
Tank is smart and loves his people with his whole heart. He is great off leash in his rural foster home and comes when called. He does have some stranger danger but warms up quickly to people. Tank is house trained and crate trained and good with cats. He is currently living with cats (that don't run) and 7 dogs with just some minor issues with a couple of the dogs. Tank responds to his own insecurities around other dogs by growling and jumping on top of the other dog so no dog park for Tank! He is not harming the other dogs but he will get himself in trouble with this rude behavior. Tank plays nicely with his foster's 2 year old male dog, ignores the shy dogs in the home and doesn't even look at the female in the home (who doesn't participate in lowly dog games). So we believe that Tank could be great in a home with another confident dog that is a good mediator.
Tank barks..... a LOT. So no shared walls for this guy. It might be a bit of separation anxiety or dislike of confinement because he is quiet when loose in the house but barks to be let back inside and mostly when crated. He will literally bark himself hoarse.
It seems as if Tank hasn't had consistent and fair rules applied. Like any smart dog he arranges his world to get what he wants if no one else will be a leader. When rules are enforced he is lovely and well behaved. This is a dogs that everyone will want to duplicate once he has had a small amount of training.
The details:
Needs fence: no
Good with kids: unkown
Good with dogs: some
Good with cats: yes
Farm animals: kills chickens (thinks they are toys but shakes them to death).
All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers. We need an approved application on file to set up a meeting with a dog you might be interested in. You can find our application at www.aussierescuemn.com. All dogs have an adoption fee of $400 plus MN sales tax. We pride ourselves on matches that are awesome for both the dog and your family. Aussie Rescue of MN is here for support, advice and as a safety net for our dogs for the rest of their lives
