Mama came to us as a terrified young mom of five. We believe that at one time she was someone's pet, because she isn't a true feral; she has obviously had some bad encounters, however, so she hisses first, then comes to say hi. It has taken six weeks for her to greet us and relax around us, but she will now head bump us, let us stroke her and scratch her neck. One sudden move, though, and she's back to giving us a quick hiss. She will not let us pick her up yet, but in the sixth week, she has taken to sleeping on our couch and playing a bit. We are hoping with the right quiet home and an experienced cat owner who is willing to be patient, Violet will come around. She is the sweetest girl, a truly fabulous cat mom, and we love her chirping and trilling as she talks to her babies (or tries to get our resident cat to engage with her.) She loves when our cat Scooby comes to visit, and would do well with another cat in the house, which might also help her build trust in her humans quicker. To find Violet a home with a patient adopter, we've made her an Underdog, which means her adoption fee is up to you!
