My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Esmeralda is a petite grey and white pittie with the sweetest eyes! Esmeralda was taken in to CACC as a stray. She ended up catching a URI, which later turned to pneumonia. She was time stamped to be euthanized due to her being sick and the shelter is so crowded with not enough resources to treat her. Players for Pits stepped up and covered her treatment, and now she is healthy and starting her new beautiful life!

Ezie is very smart. She knows how to not only sit, but how to give paw too. She always listens very well and she is a very good girl in the car. Esmeralda is absolutely wonderful with the all of the kids that she has met. Esmeralda has a medium energy level. She is mostly chill and loves to cuddle!

Ezie is the perfect catch! She knows sit, give paw, stay, and come. Also, she is a perfect angel in the crate! Ezie is a wonderful dog in every way! She is an absolute pleasure to have in our home. She has never had an accident or chewed up anything while being in here. She is an absolute cuddle bug and has the best chill energy level!

More about this rescue

Players for Pits is a 501c3, non profit rescue that connects professional athletes to the community in order to come together to take a stand against the abuse and neglect of animals. PFP serves the western suburbs of Chicago and is a foster based rescue, so the dogs in our care are in foster homes learning the basics of being a well balanced dog versus being in cages at loud boarding facilities.

The athletes involved in our rescue actively support the rescue efforts and help by spreading the word of dogs in need. It is the mission of Players for Pits to educate dog owners about proper pet care - both physical and mental - so that the dogs in our care can be happy, well balanced members of society. It is our goal to rescue dogs from high kill shelters and place them into loving homes in the suburbs. At Players for Pits we stand up for pit bulls, who's character is routinely tarnished and often misrepresented. We recognize the pit bull for what it is: a DOG. And any dog with the right care and owners can be a wonderful pet. While we are an advocate for pit bulls, we do not discriminate based on breed and will take in other breeds if they need you help. Players for Pits is also very active in the community and we co-host clinics to help struggling families maintain their pets health, we train pit bull type dogs to become therapy dogs for children with abusive backgrounds, and we try to involve the community in our goal to reduce pet abandonment.
