My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Foster observation summary: Zig was timid initially, hiding in her carrier and under furniture but arrived with another cat, Zelda.

Once Zig had her own space, with some attention (including treats, and time to get comfortable with people sitting quietly in the room), she was an active, engaged and engaging, happy, bright, loving cat within a couple of days.

Zig loves to snuggle up with people and if you've stopped petting her she will gently put her paw on your arm when she would like more. She likes to nap with people and sleep under a blanket. Zig is very gentle and has never used a claw or tooth for harm, even during the initial time when she was a bit timid.

Zig did hiss and growl at the other cat during that time, and also at a noise in the hall, but never at people. If Zig was scared she would find a safe hidey hole and come out when things calmed down. She's not hidden anywhere in over a week (and has only been here two).

Ziggy is a beauty, with very sleek fur who loves being brushed. Zig likes to rest with her paws crossed and often tilts her head to take a look at things of particular interest. She usually touches the person nearest her with a paw while she is sleeping. She is a purr factory.

Zig doesn't seem to know she's 11 and has the liveliness of a 6-8 year old. She is very strong and looooves to play. She shows particular enthusiasm for springs, balls, bird toys and puzzles. She learns very quickly and makes people smile every day with how quickly she solves things. Zig is a big fan of catnip and Tempations treats. It's been tricky to get pictures of Zig because she moves pretty quickly when she sees a phone pointed at her.

Zig is absolutely delightful and will bring gentle life and love to a quiet home. She is wonderful.

Please come into the shelter during visiting hours if you would like to meet me. You can also submit an application online if I am in foster or you would like to save some time when you come visit. While we do welcome online applications, in person meets have top priority.

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.
