Hi there, I’m Twiggy, a pretty little red Irish Terrier/Chihuahua mix with a heart of gold. I’m about 4 years old, 11 lbs, and I have been a mama dog several times over. I was picked up as a stray in San Antonio Texas, spent some time in doggy jail for loitering and begging for food, and thanks to my pretty coat and sweet personality I was taken in by 4 Little Paws Rescue and just in the nick of time after being on the euthanasia list. It's rough in Texas. Too many strays, and not enough adopters, but the East Coast is where I’ll find my forever home.

I am a sweetheart, easygoing and kind, friendly with people young and old, a bit shy with strangers, and right now not too interested in other dogs, although I co-exist nicely without any drama. I’m just low-key and prefer sitting on the couch with my humans, more so than playing and a great occupation for me would to be a lap dog. I love doggy chews and treats, I rarely bark, and I’m well-behaved. I’m doing great with housebreaking in my new foster home, and I am learning about walking on a leash. I’m perfectly happy in a crate if that's where you need to keep me, but when my foster mom leaves the house, I get to stay free-range with the resident dogs because I’m trustworthy. At bedtime, I either sleep on the couch with another dog or on the bed with a human. My future looks bright, and I am so looking forward to joining my wonderful family anywhere on the East Coast!
