My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Spike! ??

Age: 2 years
Breed: German Shorthaired Pointer

Spike is a delightful 2-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer with a perfect balance of moderate energy and a friendly personality. Whether he's playing fetch or simply hanging out with his best buddy, Zeus, Spike is always ready for a good time. His joyful and affectionate nature makes him a pleasure to be around. If you're looking for a loyal companion with a zest for life, Spike is your guy!

Spike spent some time in a foster home, and here's what his fosters had to say: "Spike is incredibly intelligent and knows his basic commands. He's house-trained but prefers not to be alone outside; he'll come right back inside and want to go out again. He's calm when he can see his person and has many traits reminiscent of a Doberman. Spike loves to nudge for pets and belly rubs. He was fine with our kids, though they mostly ignored each other. He initially got along with our barn cats, but was a bit nervous around our chickens and tried to follow me while I fed them.

Spike is a beautiful dog who thrives with someone who can be home often, such as a homebody or someone who works from home. He bonds strongly with one person, especially females. While he warmed up to my husband over time, he's clearly more affectionate and responsive to women. Spike needs to be kenneled when left alone but loves being outside and enjoys a game of fetch, even if he doesn't always bring the ball back. He's a bit of a messy eater but is not food aggressive at all. Spike is the sweetest dog with a great alert bark when someone approaches the door-perfect for country living. Despite the kids calling him ‘Rocky the Rocket,' Spike is simply a lovable companion in search of his forever home."
