Wicket is one of several dogs who came to Lollypop Farm together. Now, while he waits to find a home of his own, he's staying with a wonderful foster mom and getting used to all the
possibilities life offers. If you think Wicket sounds like he'd be a good fit for you, we'd love to make arrangements for you to meet him. To set up an appointment, please contact his in-shelter contact, Nicole at nratliff@lollypop.org.
Wicket's foster mom has shared some insights with us to help us find him the right adopter. Could you be the lucky person who'll get to take him home?
Wicket is a sweet dog with a quiet nature. He's very loving with women, but he's not a fan of young children. Because of that, we think he'd do best in an quiet household, where any children are on the older side. He's a little slower to warm up to men, but give him time - and maybe a few extra treats - and he'll soon be everyone's friend.
Once Wicket accepts you, he has an adorable habit of gently pawing at you to request petting.
He also loves sleeping in bed with you. In fact, cuddling just might be his superpower. More
good news: He's already trained to use potty pads, and your counselor can give you tips for
transitioning from those to going outdoors.
In his previous home Wicket lived with lots of other dogs and felt very comfortable with them. In fact, if you already have a dog at home, that's a big plus, because a canine companion will be a good confidence builder for him. Your counselor can give you guidance on how to introduce them. Once they become comfortable together, your dog will help Wicket settle in even more quickly.
There were no cats in Wicket's original or foster home, but his companions who've gone to their new homes have done well with their new cat siblings. If you have a cat (or several), your
counselor can give you great tips for handling inter-species intros.
Once Wicket's at home with you, we'll be here to cheer you on and answer any questions as
you help him learn the joys of a home of his own.
Here's hoping you and Wicket will be a perfect match.

More about this shelter
Mission:
Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, works together with our community better the lives of animals through justice, prevention, and life-saving care.
Vision: A just and compassionate world for all animals.
Lollypop Farm is not your typical animal welfare organization. We don’t classify ourselves as merely a shelter, simply taking in and rehoming pets. Rather, we are your partner. We’ll work with you to build a just and compassionate world for all animals–to save animals from abuse and suffering, to find a resource to keep your pet, to guide you in adopting a new pet, to make the tough decision to say goodbye to your family friend or to share information on how to help animals in your daily life.
