My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Poppy - A Deaf Angel Looking for Love!

Hello there! My name is Poppy, and I'm a 5-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel with a heart as big as my floppy ears. Life hasn't always been easy for me-I spent my early years with a commercial breeder, but now I'm ready to start a new chapter filled with love and happiness!

One thing you should know about me is that I'm deaf. But don't worry, that doesn't slow me down one bit! I may not hear your voice, but I feel your love and kindness with every gentle touch and every warm smile. I communicate through my bright, expressive eyes and my joyful tail wags.

Despite my rough start in life, I have the sweetest disposition. I love cuddling up next to you on the couch, soaking in all the affection you're willing to give. Belly rubs are my absolute favorite, and I'll repay you with the softest kisses you've ever felt. I'm also great with other dogs and even cats-I'm just a social butterfly who loves everyone!

My very favorite things are car rides, puzzles, and long naps. I'm quite the snorer but you'll have to forgive me because I can't hear it!

Because of my past experiences, I may be a bit shy at first, but with a patient and understanding family, I know I'll blossom into the confident, happy dog I'm meant to be. I'm already learning that the world can be a kind and loving place, and I can't wait to explore it with you by my side.

If you're looking for a gentle soul to add warmth and love to your home, look no further than me, Poppy. Let's write our happy ending together!

More about this rescue

Who We Are:
Zoe's House, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal welfare group based out of Sinking Spring,PA. We are comprised solely of volunteers that generously volunteer their time, their homes and their hearts. We are dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected or abandoned animals from high kill shelters or from owners who can no longer care for them. We provide the animals with loving foster care, veterinary treatment and rehabilitation until we are able to pair them with compatible and loving forever homes. At times we also offer permanent sanctuary to those with special or medical needs and that are considered unadoptable.

Zoe's House serves as a resource to our community and to our adopters by providing education and information on responsible pet ownership, the importance of spay/neuter, behavior training, nutrition, puppy mill awareness, heartworm preventative and breed education. Our organization also networks with other shelters and rescues. We try to assist other organizations when possible.

Zoe’s House is not federally funded, and relies solely on donations to continue to rescue. Although we are not breed specific, the need to save Dobermans, Rottweilers, German Shepherds and Pitbulls is ever growing; therefore, we have focused primarily on saving the lives of our beloved and majestic strong breeds.

What We do:
There are many people involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of each dog we take in. Our rescue effort starts with the initial intake request for a dog. Whether this be at a shelter of from an individual in the community, we try to gather as much information as we can. We then pickup or transport the dog to safety in rescue. At this time we administer immediate veterinary care to determine the health of the dog and ensure the animal has proper immunizations. We also have bloodwork done for a heartworm check, lyme, fecal and sometimes a blood panel depending on the age and health of the dog. The dog remains in "in-home" foster care and becomes a part of the fosters family for an undefined period of time. We evaluate the dog and work on basic manners and obedience. At times we have dogs for a longer duration due to health and/or age. The dogs in our care come with us to adoption events, home screenings, and ultimately permanent placement. Zoe's House then provides post-adoption follow-up and support and welcomes the new family to the "Zoe's House Family!" We strive to stay in close contact with all of our adopters to ensure the transition and life long relationship continues to be magical. We remain dedicated to the principal that we never want one of our rescues to end up in a shelter or in a home that does not provide a responsible and loving environment for the life of the animal.

We truly believe that one dog at a time... we are making a difference!
