Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our adoption process can be found on our website here: www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/process

________________________________________________________________________________

Estimated birth date: 5/24/24

Personality: Hesitant, Mouthy (puts mouth on you but does not bite down, usually thinking your fingers are food), Nervous, Quiet, Very shy (you are unable to touch this animal without it running away or being fearful, etc)

Favorite treats: Mealworms, Churu

Current Diet: Oxbow Essentials Mouse & Young Rat Food, Oxbow Essentials Adult Rat Food, Shunamite style food mix

Favorite toys and activities: Burrowing and climbing, but often hides when her foster is observing.

Potty trained: We're working on it!

This animal’s daily routine: Scatter feeding twice a day and free roaming in the evening.

BFF (Does this animal have or need a friend of the same species in their home?): La Ratte, Vitelotte, & Bintje are a bonded trio and must be adopted together.

Other species this pet has been exposed to and reaction to: dog, curious. Anxious of cat (no direct interaction)

Has this animal been exposed to children? What was their reaction? no

Health concerns: prone to upper respiratory infection, and they are being treated. Hopefully this will resolve prior to their adoption.

Behavioral concerns: La Ratte is in our trust training program due to being nervous and unsure of people. Learn more about our trust training methods at https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/trust-training.

Update 8/30: Lots of talking to her and giving rewards for interactions. She will still run from almost any movement.

Other notes: LaRatte can be handled but is very shy, and hides if she sees the foster. When the foster does handle her to get her used to it, she is offered treats after but only sometimes will take the treat, and other times will immediately hide again.

Update 8/30: Being patient is a must! She is friendly with the other rats, just very shy of people.

La Ratte, Vitelotte, & Bintje were born in rescue shortly after their mothers arrived.

Due to our rescue being foster-based, not all foster homes are located in Saint Paul, MN. This animal's foster parent prefers to meet at the Petsmart - 1640 New Brighton Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55413 for meet & greets, & adoptions.

Fee: La Ratte, Vitelotte, & Bintje have a combined adoption fee of $50

We absolutely DO NOT SHIP ANIMALS! Please do not ask.

La Ratte's care while in rescue has not yet been sponsored. If you would like to donate to provide veterinary care, food, bedding, and enrichment for La Ratte or other pocket pets in the care of MNPPR, please visit https://www.mnpocketpetrescue.org/sponsor-a-pocket-pet for more information.
