Wish upon a star! Wish is a small, very cuddly, active cat who really enjoys human companionship. What she lacks in size, she makes up for in personality! Wish is very shy at first, but then is quite bold, friendly and curious once she feels safe and secure. She loves cuddling with you in your favourite chair, sitting near you as you work on your computer and just hanging out with you. She loves being around her people and is a good companion.
Wish enjoys being center of attention and delights while playing with her toys. She especially likes catnip toys and ball toys.
Wish has had quite a traumatic time. In January, Wish was injured by a car and was found by a good Samaritan who brought her to Kingston urgent care. She had a fractured hip and 2 complete fractures in her femur. She was transferred to Toronto Cat Rescue and TVEH to save her leg from being amputated. After receiving excellent medical care at TVEH, she came into foster for care and has since healed completely with no restrictions or effects to her mobility. Now Wish happily runs up and down the stairs and jumps up on the sofa with ease.
As a result of the surgery on her femur, Wish still has a rod inside her leg to stabilize the femur as it continues to heal. The rod may be removed in future or could be left in place. The rod does not affect her playfulness nor her mobility in any way.
Wish should be adopted by an experienced cat owner who would be able to see when Wish is overstimulated, or tired. The perfect home for Wish is where she can be the only pet and the center of attention. Her adopting family should be an affectionate, loving family with time to play and willingness to include her in day-to-day life. A good home for Wish would be one where a family member would be available most of the day as she craves human companionship.
Wish has tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). FIV+ cats can live long happy lives with a good diet, low stress, indoor homes, loving families, and annual vet check-ins. They don't require medication and can live in a home with other non-FIV+ cats, as the virus is only passed to other cats by blood (i.e. deep bite marks) and can't be passed to dogs or humans. Please don't judge them based on a blood test!
Thank you for welcoming a senior cat into your family - an adoption fee of your choice is appreciated, vs. our standard adult cat adoption fee of $200.
