My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi I'm Dixie, a 17-year-old spayed DSH tabby female. I arrived at Safe Place several months ago after my owner died alone in her house. Unfortunately, I was left by myself for days at a time in a crate while the family commuted back and forth from another state to take care of necessary arrangements. This caused me to be quite afraid of people. The folks at Safe Place rescued me and after several months of kindness, patience and attention, I leaned to trust and feel safe again. I would do best in a low activity home without other dogs or cats. My favorite things include being brushed with the rubber brush, chasing a laser pointer, and sitting nicely next to you while you give me treats. I'm ready to find another human to be pals with. I'm an older gal but have recent vet visits and my test results show I'm in good shape for my age. Could you be the one to give me love and another home? My $50 adoption fee includes vaccinations, recent vet check, recent blood tests, and a microchip. Come meet me today. www.safeplacepets.org

Additional adoption info

Please check out our available pets and contact us to let us know which one(s) interest you. We'll arrange a site visit to your home and a meet-and-greet with your prospective pet once we have had a phone chat to determine if our rescue pet is a good fit for you and you for him/her. If you and the pet decide it's true love, we'll have you fill out an adoption contract and ask for an adoption donation (rather than a fee) of $100 per cat and $200 per dog. A certificate of adoption is mailed to you once the process is complete.
