My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Greg, the cutest lap warmer around!

Greg is estimated to be 3 years old and is the sweetest little boy. He is the ultimate lap dog and his happy place is snuggled up with someone. He loves attention and will follow you everywhere you go eager to just be by your side. Greg is fully grown and weighs about 8lbs.

Greg came to us from the Yolo County Animal Shelter after he was found as a stray and was never claimed by a family. He initially was super shy at the shelter, but quickly came around and loved making friends with the volunteers and staff. He is now loving life out of the shelter in a Yolo SPCA foster home.

Greg is the most affectionate boy and he knows just how to make you feel special when you come home from a long day at work. He is the perfect little size to cuddle with and promises to always brighten your day with sweet kisses. He would thrive in a home where he won't have to be home alone often or for long, maybe with someone who is retired or works from home.

Greg has done well with the other small dogs he has met, but we haven't seen him around larger dogs. He lives with another small dog, but seems to be way more focused on people, so could do fine with a mellow companion or as an only dog. Greg has done well with the cats in his foster home and could do well living with dog-savvy cats with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Greg has done well being around his foster family's chickens. Greg could be a great addition to a family with kids 10 years or older.

Greg has been doing great with his housetraining but still has occasional accidents. His new family should be patient with him while he adjusts to a new environment and routine. Greg has done well being home alone for short periods but may need some time to get comfortable being home alone for long periods. Greg sleeps through the night on a dog bed next to his foster parents' bed, but he probably would love to sleep in bed with you if you let him.  Greg has shown to be somewhat of an escape artist and will need a family who can properly supervise him and make sure he is safely contained when home alone.

Greg is such a wonderful boy and he is oh-so ready to be your right-hand man. If he sounds like the dog for you, submit an adoption application today!

Greg's adoption fee is $250.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.

Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.
