Velveta (Ruth/Ruthie/Ruthie-Roo-Roo) is a pretty orange tabby girl with an estimated date of birth of 3/11/2021. She has a sweet and spirited personality. She loves to talk but only does so while in a petting session; she then lets out a cute croak when the petting stops. Velveta loves to sit on her foster mom's lap. She tends to hide when strangers come over, but she doesn't mind popping out to use the litter box, eat, or drink and observe closely if a toy is involved. Velveta loves toys, especially crinkly and catnip toys. She loves the scratching post and does a good job using it. She has a silly method for climbing the cat tree; instead of climbing it perch by perch, she scales the side to bat at any toy you dangle from it! Velveta’s foster describes her as a professional lap warmer, alarm clock, tree climber, and bathroom attendant. Velveta does not care for kisses or being picked up yet, but she does accept belly rubs!
Velveta was relinquished to Precious Pets when her owner was taken to a nursing home.
Initially thought to be afraid of men, Velveta has come a long way with her foster dad. However, she would likely do best with a solo female adopter or a female adopter with gentle, cat-friendly male partner who is willing to work to earn her trust. She has not ever shown any aggression towards anyone even when she is scared. Velveta would be happiest as the only cat in the house or in a household with another older, respectful cat.
