My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Introducing Selena, a shy yet sweet-natured pup who's looking for a patient and understanding family to call her own. While she may be timid around new people and situations, Selena's loving heart and playful spirit shine brightly once she feels safe and secure. She is also a cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch.

Selena requires guidance with leash training, house training, and manners. While she may need extra patience and understanding due to her shyness, Selena is eager to learn and please her adoptive family. Consistent training and positive reinforcement techniques will help her build confidence and become a well-behaved companion.

We recommend slow introductions and supervised interactions to help Selena develop positive relationships with new dogs and build her confidence while other pups are around. She would not be best suited for a home with other canine friends.

Selena may be nervous around new people and situations, requiring slow introductions. While she may eventually warm up to new friends, Selena's shy nature makes her best suited for a home without young children. With patience and understanding, Selena will gradually overcome her fears and form deep bonds with her adoptive family.

Our mission, vision and charter is at the heart of all we do to rescue, protect and care for animals. It is also the driving force behind our animal welfare and education programs.

Our Charter:

The BC SPCA Charter is the foundation that guides the work we do:

Whereas:

The world is inhabited by many species sharing a common ecosystem of air, earth, and water. We recognize and value our interconnectedness with all animals.

Therefore:

The BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the quality of life for the animals of the world we share.

We pledge our energies to inspire and mobilize society to create a world in which all animals, who depend on humans for their well-being, experience, as a minimum, five essential freedoms:

1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
