My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Buster is a 1 year old purebred Dachshund! He has had a tough time in his short life and we hope the rest of his years will make up for that! He was born at a breeders home and was the last of his litter to find a home. While he was waiting for a family, he wasn't properly socialized. By the time he was finally chosen by a family, he was very nervous. The family decided he was too much work and our rescue took him in when he was 5mo old. We worked on building his confidence and he was doing very well when he was adopted. His family planned to continue his socialization and took him everywhere. Then, during a walk, an off leash dog attacked Buster. He was physically unharmed but his anxiety came back. He struggled going on walks and barked at any stranger. His family didn't know what to do and returned him. Although he is cautious, he will now go up to meet strangers. He is also doing great with all our pups and even enjoys playing with several! He prefers females around his size. However, he is still leash reactive towards other dogs. Once off leash, he is weary but has been fine with all of ours. He is completely fine with cats! Buster can be protective over his food and toys but we have trained him to give to us when asked. He is doing great now and hasn't had issues guarding anything for awhile. Buster needs a strong leader who will give him boundaries. He is too insecure to make his own decisions and would rather trust someone else he knows he is safe with. Buster is very smart. He is housebroken and crate trained. He loves car rides. He can never get enough treats and would enjoy learning new tricks. He is also very playful and always has a toy in his mouth. Buster loves to cuddle. When he does get nervous, he runs into someone's lap. Buster will be shy meeting a new person, but, give him a few treats and a toy to play with, and he will become your best friend. He follows you around the house and is a very sweet boy. We would like to find Buster a stable home where he can finally settle in and feel secure. Dogs and cats would be fine but, he should go to a home without children. Buster is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped already. If you're interested in meeting him, please submit an adoption application on our website at www.dominoeffectanimalrescue.orgJuly 7, 2024, 6:55 pm

Go meet their pets

Potential adopters must submit an application before setting up a private meeting with that specific animal. Once application is reviewed, we will email to make arrangements to set the date/time. We ask that the entire family and current pets are present. Meetings are held at the animals location or at your home. We also have adoption shows occasionally where you can come down and meet some of our adoptable pets. Please check our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dominoeffectanimalrescue to find out when our next show will be!

More about this rescue

Domino Effect Animal Rescue is a 501c3 non profit, no kill animal rescue located in Temecula Valley, California dedicated to saving the lives of animals in county shelters. By taking in some of these homeless animals, we hope to ease the overcrowding in shelters which leads to euthanasia. We provide care and love to all animals that enter our rescue as they await their loving, forever homes. Each animal is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and examined by a licensed veterinarian. Some animals require more medical care than the basics and we help them heal so that they can live healthy lives with their next family. We also work on basic obedience and socialization skills to help each pet develop desired behaviors for their future family.
