My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Go Gunner go!

We are so proud of our warrior puppy Gunner. Almost two months ago we took in a young German Shorthaired Pointer who'd been hit by a car and was critically injured. Over the last 8 weeks Gunner has received ALL of the best medical care we could provide, largely thanks to your generous donations. While he is still far from back to normal, and quite honestly may never quite make it back to normal, he has made incredible progress. He is a fighter and at no time has he let his situation get his spirits down. In true GSP fashion, he is ready to GO GO GO! He absolutely adores his foster family, especially his GSP foster sister, and he really is just the sweetest, happiest pup ever. His foster momma has started swim therapy with him, which he's done SO well with, and we will be starting him on a physical therapy regimen soon as well.

Gunner puppy is not yet ready to leave our care, but we would be happy to start reviewing applications for families interested in adding him to their pack when he's ready. He absolutely needs a family who has experience with GSP's, Weims, Vizslas or other similar high energy breeds. Gunner is fostered in Sarasota, Florida. More about this rescue

We are a non-breed specific dog rescue group, although we do tend to take in mostly large and extra-large breeds, and especially those in the hunting / sporting groups.

Love for Paws exists to protect and advocate for dogs in our community through responsible adoption, the donation of supplies and veterinary care to those in need, by assisting in the effort to limit the overpopulation of these animals and by promoting kindness and healthy opportunity for life.
