My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to Lukus!

He is a 6 year old Pit Bull/Shepherd mix who weighs 63 pounds. Lukus may be an older pup, but he still has plenty of energy to spare! He arrived in our care with injuries that needed to be treated, but he has been doing wonderfully ever since! He loves to go outside and go on walks or run around outside and play with his toys. He is a social pup who loves meeting new people and wants to spend all of his day by your side.

Lukus can be excited when meeting new dogs, so he needs a slow introduction so he can settle down a bit before saying hello. With a proper introduction, he shows potential to live with a dog that is a good fit. Since he is such a sweetheart, he could live with kids ages 10-13 and older.

If Lukus looks too cute to pass up, Give us a call at 330-487-0333 ext 803 to learn more about him , or stop by the facility at 752 West Portage Trail, 44313

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

All of our adoptable animals are up-to-date on all age appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, de-wormed, de-flea and microchipped before adoptions are finalized. All dogs over six months of age receive a temperament assessment by our Certified Professional Dog Trainer to ensure appropriate placement. Also, many animals in our care receive basic obedience training to improve manners and increase adoptability.

We are currently doing adoptions by appointment only. Please contact us by phone at (234) 212-9843 or email at adoptions@summithumane.org, and an adoption counselor will return your message. They will review our adoption process, answer any questions, and tell you more about the animals currently available for adoption at our shelter and in our foster program. If we have a match for you and your family, an appointment will be scheduled to meet the animal.

Additional questions can be directed to our adoption team at (234) 212-9843.

More about this shelter

Since 1968, the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) has been the trusted caretaker and advocate for Summit County’s victims of animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment and stray animals suffering from illness and injury. We employ two full-time Humane Officers who respond to emergency calls, investigate animal cruelty, and, as warranted, prosecute offenders. We protect and care for our community’s abused, discarded, and forgotten animals. We strive every day to rehabilitate our rescued animals, find them great homes, and provide them with bright futures.
