My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Ralphie is a charming almost 9-year-old Basset Hound/Beagle mix weighing in at a lovable 54 pounds. This sweet boy has a lot to say, especially when he’s crated or yearning to be close to his favorite people. On his rescue ride, Ralphie kept his transporters company with his endearing chatter, expressing his desire to be near them rather than in the back seat.

Ralphie is reportedly great with other dogs and cats, making him a wonderful companion in a multi-pet household. He hasn’t been around kids while in our care, but we believe he’d do well with calm, respectful children aged 10 and up. Ralphie is happiest when he’s napping or enjoying a meal, as long as his loved ones are nearby. He’s well-mannered on a leash and knows the command “sit."

Ralphie is currently heartworm positive, but don’t worry—Wish Bone will provide his treatment. Heartworm disease isn’t contagious, as it’s spread through mosquito bites. During his treatment, Ralphie will need to stay calm, which won’t be a problem since he loves his naps.

Kennel staff can’t say enough good things about Ralphie. They describe him as a loving, sweet boy who always wants to be by your side, making him the perfect partner in crime. Ralphie’s ideal home is a quiet one with someone who can spend a lot of time with him. He doesn’t care much for toys or bones, but a good belly rub makes him happier than anything. He’s impeccably clean in his kennel and has never had an accident outside of it. He loves lounging on his bed, snoring softly, and soaking up all the love he can get.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who will be your shadow and your best friend, Ralphie is the perfect match! His minimum adoption fee is $295 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
