My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Jasper a two-year-old, up to date on shots, neutered Lab mix pup. Jasper is an energetic, funny, and friendly young boy with a big love for people. He's an affectionate pup who loves to play, but he can be a bit shy around other dogs, so he's looking for a loving home where he can be the center of attention.

Jasper's favorite activities include playing fetch, going on long walks, and curling up for a good snuggle session. He's a clever boy who's always eager to learn. Jasper would do best in a low-dog-traffic home where he can get all the love and attention he deserves.

If you're looking for a fun, affectionate, and playful furry friend, Jasper is the perfect boy for you. He can't wait to start his new life with you!

Additional adoption info

An application is necessary to adopt or foster. Please contact us through this site, email us, or visit our “Contact Us” page on our website: www.hopeforhannahrescue.org. Our dogs are up to date with their age appropriate vaccinations. The adoption fee may vary.

We are always in need of fosters and the help is greatly appreciated. Most of the time our dogs only need a foster for one or two nights until the adopter comes to officially adopt the dog. Our dogs and puppies are medically treated and screened at our West Virginia shelter until they are transported here, so we rely greatly on fosters because we do not have a facility.

Past and Future Events:

The month of October 2014 we will be holding an ornament sale at Pet Supplies Plus on Route 611 in Stroudsburg, PA. If you stop by the store they will be selling oraments for a donation to help pay for Hannah's new wheelchair. Hannah is having issues with curvature of the spine and a newly designed wheelchair is necessary. The cost of it is between $800 and $1000. The last time we did an ornament drive at PSP we raised $800 thanks to the kindness and generousity of many incredible people. We will be holding an adoption event at the store on Sunday, October 19, with lots of adorable puppies. Hannah will be there to meet and thank people as well so please come to see us! And please stop in the store anytime in October and support our effort to get Hannah her new wheels! Every dollar counts! Hugs from Hannah and her family!

More about this rescue

We are a non-profit, tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization.

The inspiration behind our rescue is our American Bulldog, named Hannah. Hannah was surrendered to a rescue that we were all very active in. She was an unwanted and badly injured little puppy who needed extensive medical treatment due to injuries suffered by being neglected. Hannah was turned down by other rescues and was scheduled to be euthanized. She was only a puppy.

One of our members decided to foster and adopt Hannah, starting all of us on our journey to start our own rescue which is how Hope for Hannah Rescue began. Hannah required extensive surgery and physical therapy. We realized that we needed to find new and better ways to raise funds for animals, especially animals in need of extensive medical care like Hannah.

We were also amazed when we talked to people that they had no knowledge of puppy mills, bad breeders, or in many cases, or that animal rescues even existed.

We decided that education had to be one of our most important activities, so we began working with the general public and more specifically, working with school children who are the pet owners of the future.

We did a series of assemblies at a local intermediate school and began working with the students on fundraisers for Hannah's care. They were motivated, interested, and now very aware of the importance of responsible pet ownership. We hope to visit more schools in Monroe County, Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas in forthcoming months and years as well as other public organizations. Education is the key to change and this is what makes our organization different from most traditional pet rescues.

Although Hannah needed to have her injured leg amputated, she is a healthy and happy dog living with the rescue's founder. Saving Hannah is an example a heroic deed of the founder and of the Hope for Hannah's Mission statement: Hope, Help, and Educate.
