Tristan is a pleasure to walk, and draws a lot of attention w his unique look. He only pulls occasionally when he comes across a particularly interesting scent and sometimes makes a quick lane change, so need to stay aware. When he sees wildlife or people he will stop and just watch, no carrying on or noise. When a neighbor was getting a driveway redone, he splooted himself in the middle of the street to watch- he was fascinated! He is great meeting people and dogs and seems to love both. He has gotten pretty good w sit and down and getting better w stay. He is treat motivated, so quite trainable, we just need to figure out what signs to use for what. He has some separation anxiety, understandable considering everything he's had to deal w in the past few months, but he has improved a lot. Exercise is our friend and it helps him a great deal. He is housebroken and crate trained, where he enjoys his kong, puzzles and peanutbutter. He can be quite vocal though, he let's it be known he's awake , when he's frustrated, lonely, hungry or bored, so that might be an issue in an apartment . But since he is crated here, (I have cats), it's possible that would alleviate if he had free run of the house. I have to admit I have skipped out the back door so he doesn't know I 've left! He doesn't seem overly interested in the cats, so will be moving on to leashed living rm access next and see how he does. He can be jumpy and mouthy at times when the wild child comes out, something we need to learn to work on . He knows the car is his friend now and that it takes him to wonderfully smelly places and he rides well. He can be very funny and fun and really not that different from a hearing dog. He's just Tristan!

The Animal Care & Control Team of Philadelphia (ACCT Philly) is the region’s largest animal care and control service provider. ACCT Philly is an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, contracted by the City of Philadelphia to provide animal control services. Our animal control officers provide service over 142.6 square miles to the city’s more than 1.5 million residents and ACCT Philly’s facility in North Philadelphia handles more than 17,000 of the city’s animals, from dogs and cats, to small animals, reptiles, birds and wildlife, annually.
In addition to animal control and sheltering, ACCT Philly is open 365 days a year for pet adoptions. ACCT Philly also supports a foster care program where community members provide temporary homes for sheltered animals and one of the (if not THE) most extensive rescue partnership program in the country where approved rescue partners accept ACCT Philly animals into their adoption programs. Under contract ACCT Philly’s Animal Control Officers provide animal control services and code enforcement.
