My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Peanut. My foster dad calls me Sweet Pea. I started my young life outside until a very nice lady started feeding me. She couldn't keep me forever so I went to my foster home with JCAPL. It was very strange to be inside all the time and living in a house gave me so much to explore. I have to say, I really like it. There are toys to play with, other cats, and two big dogs. They just like to lay around a lot. I'm still kinda shy about being picked up, but I do like to hang with my foster mom. She gives me lots of pets. I'm not too sure about my foster dad yet. He seems ok, though. As much as I like it here I'm ready for my forever home. I would love to have another friendly kitty to play with, and people who will appreciate how cute I am.

Are you interested in adopting Peanut or another JCAPL pet you have seen? You'll need to start by completing an adoption application, available online at our website: www.jcapl.org. There is no obligation to adopt by completing an application, however, we do recommend submitting an application as soon as you find an animal you are interested in. We review applications in the order they are received.

Completed applications can be sent via email to adopt@jcapl.org , faxed to 919-300-5524 or delivered in person by visiting us at one of our adoption events on Saturdays at PetSmart in Garner (White Oak Shopping Center).

We will contact you as soon as possible once we receive your application.

Thanks for thinking adoption!

Additional adoption info

Dogs $250.00 (includes the animal spayed or neutered, current on vaccines that are age appropriate; flea & tick prevention and heartworm prevention, dewormed and microchip)(refundable $100 deposit required if the puppy is too young to be spayed or neutered - deposit returned after spay/neuter has been completed and verified with a veterinarian)

Cats $130 (current on vaccines (FVRCP & Rabies), dewormed, FelV/FIV tested, flea prevention, microchipped and spayed or neutered (refundable $100 deposit required if the kitten is too young to be spayed or neutered - deposit returned after spay/neuter has been completed and verified with a veterinarian).

We require an Adoption Application to be completed, an interview with a potential adopter, and sometimes home visits are done and vet references checked when possible. If the potential adopter lives in a rental property, we will need verification from the property owner or management that pets are allowed, how many, and any restrictions (breed, size, etc.). An Adoption Agreement and Medical History form are signed. We require a deposit if the animal is pending a spay or neuter appointment, and monitor follow-up to keep the appointment.

Go meet their pets

CATS and KITTENS: Our adoptable cats & kittens are at the Luv-A-Pet Centers at PetSmart, White Oak in Garner and in PetSmart Goldsboro).

Cats can be seen during regular store hours by asking a manager or by appointment with JCAPL. On Saturdays between 10am and 2pm, JCAPL volunteers bring additional cats and kittens to the Luv-A-Pet Center at the Garner location.

We do rotate our cats and kittens regularly so if you see a cat or kitten online, but do not see them at Petsmart, they are most likely taking a break at their foster home. Please feel free to contact us if you have questions about the adoption status of a specific cat or kitten.

DOGS and PUPPIES can be seen at the PetSmart at White Oak Shopping Center from 11:00 am until 2:00 p.m. on Saturdays, or by appointment with individual foster homes.
