Hello world, ummm, my name is Amiya. I just turned a year old, and I am looking for my forever home. I came from a hoarding situation like a fair amount of the dogs at the shelter. I, however, was the most scared and timid. It took me over two weeks to not run into the back outside portion of my kennel whenever anyone was near me.
Once I trusted the first volunteer that took time with me, human affection became my most favorite thing. I was so scared, but all I yearned for was affection. I still am very timid at first, and sometimes I can shake and go into my safe spot of the volunteer's lap, but lately, I've been slowly crawling up to people submissively and giving my belly because I am starting to understand that I will get nothing but belly rubs, which is my favorite! I recently started becoming even braver, exploring, and even had my first zoomie run!
I absolutely love people once I know you; think velcro dog with the absolute sweetest temperament. I would be amazing for someone who works from home, a recently retired person, or, in general, just someone who is truly looking for a companion! I do not mind other dogs, but the calmer, more laid-back style ones are my jam! I even think a mild-mannered, calm canine sibling will help me come out of my shell even more! I like to have blankets, and I absolutely love chicken nuggets.
I need a more quiet home with no super young children and someone who can be patient and understanding as I continuously build my confidence.
