My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, my name is Paula, and I'm a year-old Border Collie mix with a special journey to share! I traveled all the way from Maui Humane Society to find my forever home, and I'm so grateful to be here.

I might seem a bit shy at first, but that's just because I take my time warming up to new people. Once I feel safe and comfortable, though, I'm as sweet as can be. I really appreciate patience and understanding from my humans-they help me feel secure and loved.

I think life is best enjoyed at a gentle pace. I would love to find someone who's willing to go slow with me, so we can build trust and friendship together. Maybe we can take quiet walks, spend cozy evenings together, or just sit quietly side by side.

I have a lot of love to give, and I can't wait to find a home where I can blossom and show my true personality. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will be your best friend once she feels at ease, I'm here waiting for you. Let's take our time and create a beautiful bond that lasts a lifetime. Come down to Woods in SLO to meet me, any day from 12-4pm!

More about this shelter

Woods Humane Society, Inc. is a nonprofit, privately funded organization dedicated to the humane care of unwanted animals in San Luis Obispo County. Our Staff, volunteers, and board of directors are dedicated to upholding our Mission and preserving the welfare of our present and future animals.

While we cooperate with the State Humane Association of California, the American Humane Association, and The Humane Society of the United States, Woods does not receive financial support from them. Only 20% of our revenues to care for the animals are generated by service fees, the other 80% is generated from fund-raising events, grants, wills, and mainly community donations.

Woods Humane Society is proud to be a leader among the nation’s humane organizations. Thanks to loyal and broad-based community support, and the diligent efforts of our dedicated staff and volunteers, Woods placement rate averages 97%, an outstanding achievement.

None of this work could be completed without the incredible support of our community and our wonderful volunteers.
