Horchata is a 5 year old Dachshund x Chihuahua mix who is ready to add a little spice to your life! Horchata was rescued from a hoarding case by local animal control and was brought to an overflowing shelter. They sent out a SOS for rescues to help clear their kennels and we jumped into action, saving as many pups as we could. Horchata greeted us with happy kisses and snuggles and away we went! Horchata has some gray hairs but this young gentleman is just showing off his amazing looks. If you are looking for a spiced beverage to add to the rotation, look no further than our Horchata!

Horchata is a sweet and loving gentleman with a heart of pure gold. He loves his people and will faithfully follow you anywhere you go. However, as long as he has a soft bed available, he can keep himself occupied as well. Horchata is so trusting for a dog who hasn’t always had a reason to believe people. He instantly understood that his life had changed for the better and grabbed his new opportunity happily. Horchata is more of a people dog than a dog dog, and loves getting all the cuddles his family offers him. He takes a little bit of time to warm up to new people but he will be snuggling up to you in no time. Horchata is very playful with his people and they have loved seeing his personality continue to blossom as he has settled in. Toys are still new to him but we have no doubt he will learn to love the plushy throne his new family provides him with. Horchata is truly such a gentle joy, with a tail that never stops wagging and a belly always ready for rubs. If you’re looking for a new favorite drink, our barista suggests a glass of Horchata!

Horchata starts his morning around 8 AM with a short walk for potty before he comes inside for breakfast. As the family gets ready for the day, Horchata tucks himself into his cocoon bed for a morning nap. After a few hours of rest, he trots outside and spends some time sunning himself in the yard. He loves sniffing all the good smells nature has to offer and dutifully ensures the yard is free of squirrels and bugs. What a helpful dude! In the afternoon, Horchata takes another nap until he wakes up for his second walk. Around 5 PM, he gets a 30 minute walk once the weather starts to cool down. Dinner is served upon his return home. After he finishes eating, he goes outside for some playtime as the family eats dinner. Once he is ready for evening cuddles, he helps himself onto the couch for snuggles. He goes to bed at 10 PM.

Horchata gets along well with other dogs and would do well as a companion to a resident dog. Horchata walks well on a leash but would do well with continued training. He is a very intelligent dog, both mentally and emotionally. Horchata does not have accidents in the house. Horchata has brought endless joy to his foster family and they have no doubt he will bring love and happiness to his forever people! Get ready for a life of companionship and adoration when you head to the coffee bar to pick up your order!

Horchata is an option for any home, regardless of prior dog owning experience. Kids in the home should be over the age of 9.
